Protecting Life

Protecting life is one of the most important pillars of our society and fighting for the unborn has always been one of my top priorities in Congress. This Sunday marks the 50th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, and it gives us an opportunity to reflect on the importance of upholding the sanctity of life.

That is why I introduced a resolution expressing Congressional support and celebrating the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization which overturned Roe v. Wade. I believe that Congress should applaud this historic ruling protecting the fundamental right to life. But the Dobbs case wasn’t the end for Pro-Lifers; it was actually just the beginning. Our fight for life must continue, and it will take legislation at both the federal and state levels to ensure the unborn are protected.

I am encouraged by this country’s eagerness to defend the sanctity of life and I see a bright future ahead for the pro-life movement.

118th Committee Assignments

This week, I received my committee assignments for the 118th Congress. I am proud to say that I have been selected to serve on four critically important committees that will directly benefit Michigan’s 9th District.

First, I am excited to join the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability which has one major goal: holding the Biden Administration accountable. I remain committed to exposing our government’s waste, fraud, and abuse by conducting vigorous investigations dedicated to bringing the truth to light. House Republicans plan to fulfill our Commitment to America by holding the government accountable.

Second, I will also be joining the Budget Committee, which is tasked with one of the most essential duties in Congress, the power of the purse. I will continue to fight for smart fiscal policies and use my role to keep America’s spending under control.

Third, I will continue serving on the House Committee on Education and The Workforce, which oversee programs that affect all Americans, from early learning to retirement security. I will continue to champion policies that empower parents and students, and I will work to get Critical Race Theory out of our schools. I will also continue to fight for our local businesses that have been crushed by the federal government’s overbearing labor regulations.

Finally, I will continue my work on the House Armed Services Committee, advocating for strength in America’s national security. I also plan to use this role to continue fighting on behalf of Michigan veterans, soldiers, and military families.

Thank you for your participation in the democratic process, enjoy your weekend.

Sincerely,
