SHOW UP Act
The pandemic is over; even Joe Biden has said so. It’s well past time for federal employees to get back to the office and back to working for the American people. For far too long, federal workers have enjoyed unchecked remote work at the expense of productivity and your tax dollars.
This week, the House passed the SHOW UP Act to require our federal agencies to end their COVID-era telework policies and force federal workers to return to working hard for the American people. Rest assured, House Republicans are fighting to restore an accountable government. It’s past time these federal workers SHOW UP for the people they serve.
Holding the Government Accountable
On Wednesday, the new GOP-led House Committee on Oversight and Accountability held our first hearing to discuss the waste, fraud, and abuse that happened under the guise of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now more than ever, we need to hold our government accountable.
I joined my colleagues in asking government officials why billions of taxpayer dollars were lost during the pandemic. Over $500 billion taxpayer dollars still stand unaccounted for. I come from a business background, if I had misplaced $560 billion of my client’s money, I would be in some major trouble. So, I’m ensuring we hold the government to that same standard. The answers I received from these officials were not enough. They gave me no answers that would justify the misuse of your hard-earned tax dollars.
We are at a turning point: we need to put an end to this administration's unbounded spending. I look forward to a productive term alongside my Republican colleagues to fulfill the promise of our committee: oversight and accountability of our federal government's endless bureaucracy.

Northern Border Security Caucus
We all know that the southern border is in crisis. What people don’t often think about is how that affects our northern border. With a flood of illegal immigrants coming in at our southern border, the United States Customs and Border Protection agency must send most of its resources to deal with that dilemma, ignoring our northern border.
But, our northern border is facing a growing number of problems. Drug smuggling has increased by 596% in the last two years. And even though the Northern border is twice the size of the Southern border, it is considerably under-supervised. Our community cannot continue to go unnoticed in the conversation of border security.
That is why I am proud to announce that I have joined the Northern Border Security Caucus as an original member to work to provide constructive solutions to fix our nation’s border problems.
Veterans for Mustangs Act
This week, I reintroduced the Veterans for Mustangs Act, which allows American veterans to administer humane fertility control to wild horses and burros to assist with population management.
Currently, the Bureau of Land Management rounds up wild horses with helicopters. This process is not only expensive, but it also causes significant physical and emotional damage to the horses. The Veterans for Mustangs Act would provide humane population control to our wild horse program, offer a unique form of healing for our American veterans, and save the taxpayers billions of dollars. That’s a win-win-win.

Photos of the Week
On Tuesday, I had the honor to speak with School Board & Superintendent officials from the district. We discussed how to move education forward and fix the problems in our schools so that every kid has a chance to succeed.
Yesterday, I met with constituents from the National Association of Wheat Growers. We discussed the increasing burden of the high price of fertilizer. We also discussed the supply chain crisis and the priorities of Michigan farmers for the upcoming Farm Bill.
On Wednesday, in honor of National Girls And Women In Sports Day, I spoke with Riley Gaines, a young athlete who had to compete against a biological male, Lia Thomas, at the NCAA Women’s Swimming Championship. We cannot allow men to continue to steal women’s sports. It is a direct attack on women’s rights. I am glad that young women like Riley are standing up and calling out the unfair practices happening to female athletes across the country.
Thank you for your participation in the democratic process, have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
