Rep. McClain: “I Stand with the Iranian Women, like Mahsa Amini, Who Have Risked and Given Their Lives Advocating for Human Rights and Standing Up for Their Freedom against the tyrannical Iranian regime.”

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) led her House colleagues in demanding Iran’s removal from the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The group sent a letter outlining their disgust to Linda Thomas-Greenfield, United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

“I stand by the Iranian women, like Mahsa Amini, who have risked and given their lives advocating for human rights and standing up for their freedom against the tyrannical Iranian regime,” said Rep. Lisa McClain. “The United States is a beacon of freedom and hope for all, and our lackluster response on the world stage is unacceptable and inexcusable. That is why I am demanding the immediate removal of Iran from the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women.”

Co-signers of the letter include RSC Chairman Banks, Rep. McKinley, Rep. Weber, Rep. Mace, Rep. Steube, Rep. Wagner, Rep. Tenney, Rep. Waltz, Rep. Salazar, Rep. Budd, Rep. Franklin, Rep. Gimenez, Rep. Fitzpatrick, Rep. Walberg, Rep. Steel and Rep. Guest.
