WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-MI) introduced an amendment during the House Education and Labor Committee budget resolution markup that would bolster awareness of skilled trades programs for perspective students.

“Skilled trades programs are critical to shaping the workforce of our future generations,” said Rep. McClain. “This commonsense amendment will increase awareness of these important programs for parents and students, who are oftentimes misinformed about the benefits of skilled trades programs.”

The amendment includes language from McClain’s recently introduced bipartisan POST Act, which would allow existing funds in the Perkins Grant Program to be used to attract, inform and bolster awareness of skilled trades programs for prospective students and employees.
