WASHINGTON—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 3944, the first funding bill for Fiscal Year 2026. This bill allocates $152.091 billion to fully funds veterans’ health care, benefits, and other vital programs under the Department of Veterans Affairs, invests in military construction, and refocuses defense investments on national security priorities.

House Republican Conference Chairwoman Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) released the following statement:

“America is a nation built on the service and sacrifice of our veterans—and they deserve nothing but the best in return. House Republicans are keeping our promises to take care of our heroes while also strengthening our military and protecting taxpayer dollars,” Chairwoman McClain said. “We are ending nonsense funding for DEI, illegal aliens, and transgender surgeries, and directing those resources toward actually helping our veterans and their families. We’re also prioritizing innovation and modernization across our military to ensure America remains safe, strong, and prepared for the threats of tomorrow."
