McClain Elected House Republican Conference Chairwoman
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), was elected by her colleagues to serve as the House Republican Conference Chair for the 119th Congress. After her election, McClain released the following statement:
“It is an honor to be selected by my Republican colleagues to represent our Conference as their Chairwoman. Over the past few days, I have spoken with my fellow members and members-elect across the spectrum of our Conference. Their advice, ideas, and goals are very valuable as we head into the next Congress with a unified House majority.
“The American people have given our party a mandate to lead and pass President Trump’s agenda. Our message of economic stability, safety at home and abroad, and returning to traditional American values resonated with Americans who have traditionally not supported our party. As a Conference, it is our obligation to take this winning message to the people, and I will work tirelessly to amplify the voices within our Conference to reach beyond our traditional audience.
“Leading this Conference as Chairwoman, I will listen just as much as I speak, unify our members with a simple, unified message, and empower our members to champion passage of our America First policies. We will remain on offense every single day, and we will win. I am excited to get started telling the story of America’s next chapter of greatness.”
As Chairwoman, the position makes McClain the fourth most senior Republican in the House and the highest-ranking woman in Congress.
