McClain and Oversight Republicans Demand Documentation from FEMA Over New Allegations of Discrimination

WASHINGTON - Today, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), along with her Republican colleagues on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell requesting documentation and information related to whistleblower claims of further discrimination against hurricane victims displaying specific political signage on their properties.

“The allegations and evidence turned over by the whistleblower raise serious doubts that the incident in Florida was isolated,” said McClain. “Americans reeling from a natural disaster deserve assistance no matter their beliefs. Everyone involved in these actions at FEMA should be held responsible, and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure un-elected bureaucrats pushing personal and political agendas are held to account.”

Background:

On Wednesday, Nov. 19, at a Committee on Oversight and Accountability hearing, McClain questioned Administrator Criswell about the pattern of discrimination within the Biden administration against Americans with conservative beliefs.

During the hearing, Oversight Committee staff were contacted by a whistleblower who disclosed details of conduct in Georgia similar to what happened with FEMA employees in Florida.

On Nov. 8, the Daily Caller first reported on a FEMA supervisor telling aid workers to skip over Trump supporters’ homes while doling out assistance after Hurricane Milton in Florida.
