WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-MI) announced she will serve on the following subcommittees within the House Armed Services Committee: The Subcommittee on Military Personnel and the Subcommittee on Readiness.

“The Subcommittee on Military Personnel oversees the most important part of our military, the brave men and women who wear the uniform.  I look forward to being a voice for the men and women of our Armed Forces on this subcommittee,” said Rep. McClain. “On the Subcommittee on Readiness, I will be a voice for Selfridge Air National Guard Base, ensuring that Selfridge remains a top priority within the Department of Defense.”

The Subcommittee on Military Personnel oversees the Department of Defense policy and programs related to military personnel, military health care, military education, dependent schools, Prisoner of War/Missing in Action issues, welfare and recreation, commissaries, cemeteries under the jurisdiction of the Department of Defense, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, military retirement issues and Reserve Component integration and employment.

The Subcommittee on Readiness oversees the Department of Defense policy and programs related to military readiness, training, logistics and maintenance, military construction, organic industrial base, the civilian and contract workforce, environment, military installations and real property management, family housing, base realignments and closures and energy.

Rep. McClain’s district includes several defense and national security assets including Selfridge Air National Guard Base, the Michigan Defense Corridor and the Blue Water Bridge, an international border crossing.

“For the past several Congresses, the 10th Congressional District has been represented on the Armed Services Committee, and I’m proud to continue this tradition,” said Rep. McClain. “National Security is one of my top priorities and I look forward to working with my committee colleagues to ensure that our men and women in uniform have the resources they need to defend our great nation.”

Last month, McClain announced she would serve on the House Armed Services Committee for the 117th Congress.
