WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-MI) announced that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) appointed her to the Board of Visitors of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

“I am honored Leader McCarthy appointed me to serve on the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Board of Visitors,” said Rep. McClain. “Our service academies attract some of the finest students and I look forward to ensuring the Coast Guard Academy continues to provide a topnotch education to its students.”

“Service academies are one of the most premier academic institutions in the country. To help ensure the academies are meeting their mission, we need high-quality leaders on their respective oversight boards who will help provide guidance on morale, curriculum, and academic methods used. That is why I am proud to nominate Lisa McClain to serve on the US Coast Guard Academy’s oversight board. As a member on the House Armed Services Committee who represents one of the largest, most active Coast Guard regions in the country, Rep. McClain is uniquely qualified to understand the needs and demands required of this position. I know with her leadership, the USCGA will continue to produce exceptional officers who are prepared to lead our men and women serving in the United States Coast Guard,” said Leader McCarthy.

Rep. McClain represents Michigan’s 10th Congressional District which is home to hundreds of miles of shoreline and Coast Guard Air Station Detroit. McClain will serve on the board for the remainder of the 117th Congress.
